Inexperieced

Wednesday, April 27, 2011 @ 8:30 AM

Probably like 2 weeks ago, there had been a buzz about this short film "Strangers, Again". I didn't bother to watch it because I thought it was one of those yet-another-cheesy love story. I only watched it because of a friend and I guessed that maybe it is a unique film.

But I guessed it wrong. Strangers, Again presented a very realistic story about the process that a couple goes through. According to the film, relationships experience 7 stages: Meeting, The Chase, Honeymoon, Comfortable, Tolerance, Downhill and Breaking Up.

After watching it, I admit I wasn't like the rest of its audience who had way long hangovers because of the film. And I know the reason why. Those people can relate to it. They saw themselves in the movie through the characters. They have undergone those 7 stages. They had a connection in story.

The things I have just mentioned are not at all me. I never saw myself in the movie. I, in even the tiniest way, cannot relate to the story. Lastly, I have not undergone those 7 stages. Don't get me wrong. I'm not sad that things roll this way. I just noticed that my lack of 'experience' have made me different from the rest of the people around me, especially my friends.

I know that time will come for me to face those 7 stages. I just have to wait.

Thoughts about labels

Monday, April 18, 2011 @ 9:17 AM

We live in a stereotypical world because of labels. High school is a very classic example. Think back. During your high school years, there would always be the jocks, the plastics, the nerds, the goths...and the list goes on and on. Not to mention "jejemon" is an added label. But come to think of it, labels doesn't give the totality of a person. For sure there is an inner geek in every cheerleader and a hidden compassion in every plastic.

I'm just sad that labels still exist in college. Sometimes I ask myself, "Ano ba ang napapala natin sa pagllabel ng mga tao?" I think that if one chooses a path that is not what is the society usually encounters, then it is best that the people should respect that person. I believe that we respect by accepting the people around us not by their capabilities but their personality in itself. As long as there is no harm present, then I don't see the reason why we should be so stereotypical.

Naisip ko lang bigla at nakakalungkot lang.

Something's missing

Monday, December 27, 2010 @ 3:18 AM

Everywhere I go, people around me has perceived me as jolly, carefree and just simply happy. True. I know I have made a lot of people laugh and smile at some point of our lives. I'm usually the one who jokes and laughs a lot, especially when with peers.

But I dunno for some reason, I feel lonely. Don't get me wrong. My holiday is going pretty well. Parents loved my gift, got a lot of christmas money from relatives and gifts from friends. But I just feel really lonely. It's like there's something missing. Have you ever felt that? Your life is going pretty well but you have that missing puzzle piece in your own masterpiece, life?

This has been bugging me for days now that's why I decided to put it here. I don't know who I should consult about this and so here I am in front of my laptop making a blog.

Just realized something today. This day, last year, I just had my first kiss. To be honest, looking back, I think it was not a good idea. That kiss was a mistake. It opened a big room of hope for me but it didn't made me any good. If you are to ask me, I have regretted that.

Never again.

My brand of addiction

Friday, June 11, 2010 @ 4:21 AM

Fashion never fails to amuse me. I use this to express myself but I'm not really like those who wear very fancy and expensive clothes. Plain and simple is the perfect mix to my everyday outfit. One thing that would really make me go gaga is....SHOES! I love everything about it!

Earlier, I accompanied a friend to Trinoma since she needed advice on what to wear. Of course, I was at a tedium at home so I went with her. After completing her shopping list, we went back to a store called Shoe Gallery. I ended up buying a pair of flats that's on sale.

Those flats were the 5th pair that I got since the year started. GAH! My shoe addiction is eating up my savings! MUST STOP. :(

Parents over lover

Thursday, June 10, 2010 @ 6:05 AM

Lovers come and go but parents don't. True. There will be that person who will make us feel special and who will increase our sense of belonging to this world. But the thing is, that undeniable connection with our parents is for more important that any other thing in this planet.

Every since, I've been fond of telling stories to my parents, especially my mother. May it be school, friends, or love life, my mom knows most of it. I never had a problem of communicating with them. I told them everything that is needed to know about me. The great thing about it is we both are open to each other. They don't instantly get mad when I told them about something that I've done wrong. They always give advise on how to make things right.

My mom is always vocal about her opinions about having a boyfriend or being in love at this stage of my life and she makes a lot of sense, actually. I made a promise to my mom to always let her know of all the things that's happening to especially if it concerns my studies. Let's face it. Love has always an effect to our priorities.

For now I prioritize school. Besides, I'm too young and I know I'm not yet ready for such commitments.

I may say that I sometimes feel that I'm a hypocrite for always altering my promises to myself. But this one's different. It involves the two most important people in my life.

I WILL KEEP MY PROMISE NOT LIKE YOU.

Me and you. Just as two.

Friday, June 4, 2010 @ 8:48 AM

First, I would like to apologize. Haven't been able to update for like a year. :( Sorry, blogger! But this feels refreshing. I'll try to do this again more often.

My day was a blast. Watched a movie with some high school friends (God knows I deeply miss high school), Sex and the city 2! Actually, we were supposed to watch Shrek 3 but...but...it is so expensive because it is shown in 3d. So we opted for Sex and the city 2 and man, thank God we chose that over shrek. It was so hilarious.

Favorite scenes:
1) when Carrie's husband (I suck at memorizing character names. Forgive.) gave her forgiveness after she kissed her ex boyfriend in Abu Dhabi and a ring that symbolizes her commitment to their marriage. It's just sweet. :">
2) when the girls was in their high class flight up until their tour in the hotel. It's so luxurious.

For all those who haven't watch this, I think you better do. :) I just love watching movies with friends. :">

For the first time, I'm officially bored.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 8:07 AM

100th post! Wee! Hello there, blogger. Long time no blog. School's being bossy again. Nothing new. But look, I'm officially bored (Well, actually, I have tons to do : CWJ essay, trigo, english. Oh well. Screw them.) I actually doesn't care much about my grades anymore. Basta makagraduate kahit may line of 7 satisfied na ko. :)) Why should I strive for better grades if ADMU, UP, DLSU and UST have a copy of my manuscript from FIRST TO THIRD year? Sayang sa effort. Tsss. And besides, I have little regrets on my grades before. They were quite ok. Well, for me, that is.

Barefoot: My dialogue with creation

Tuesday, September 8, 2009 @ 4:50 AM

(A retreat activity. These are compilations of haikus, quotes, and poems that I have created during the said activity.)
Flowers are stationary
To some they are ordinary
But to me they symbolized simplicity
A gift from God and a thing of beauty

Trees no matter how tall they are
never seem to detach from its branches
Humans should be like the trees
Tall and strong
but never forgets the place in which they grew.

Small creature walks
Walking in a straight line
Ants look for meaning

Rocks are scattered
because they want to be noticed.

As I sit on this rock
I start to look back
To all the things that happened to me
Not in my dreams but in reality

Don't be afraid of falling
because someday, somehow
someone will pick you up
(an inspiration from my falling eraser :P)

There's nothing wrong with silence.
Being silent means
collecting yourself again.

Under the shadow
is where the fearful hides.

My UPCAT ordeal

Saturday, August 1, 2009 @ 3:34 PM

August 1, 2009. College of Arts and Letter building. 6:30 am. Room 301.

This day's probably the most stressful day of my life. I started my day, as usual. Forced my butt off to bed, showered and ate my typical breakfast meal. 4:45 am came (Yes. I woke up really early.) and I went up to wake my dad. After his coffee, we jumped in our car. Then suddenly the rain poured when we reached Roosevelt so we went back to get my umbrella.

Traffic inside UP was surprisingly smooth (or maybe it's just that we arrived there at 5:30). We immediately got a parking slot in front of the building. My dad told me to check on the applicants (where they are and what they are doing) and so I did. I saw the applicants in line in front of the entrance. I told my dad about this and he said to just stay inside the car and wait. He demanded that I sleep. Of course, I can't.

So while waiting, I watch the cars as they pass by the filled roads of UP and the anxious, nervous and anticipating faces of test-takers. Then, I suddenly saw a girl who really looks familiar. It's ate Kaye! (Mia's yaya.) Then, I saw Mia. (We're on the same building...and room.) So, I rolled down the car window to get her attention. We were both shocked. Haha. We both lined up but we were two seats away. Aww.

6:30. Test-takers, including myself, are arranged in all testing centers in CAL. There were two proctors in the room. One gave out instructions while the other one acted as a "look-out". The room was not air-conditioned. What makes it worse were the electric fans that were like 5 meters above me. It's a good thing, though, that the weather was cooperative. (Thank you, God!)

The first test was language proficiency. Quite fair. Although, arranging sentences to form a cohesive paragraph was really time-consuming. It lasted for 50 minutes.

Second was science. Oh, God. Thank you for Miss Audrey Gineta! After 50 minutes, the proctor instructed us to stop writing and to stand. All of us were dumb-founded by such request, but all of us responded. Then she told us to stretch. Hahaha. Mia and I were doing yoga poses just to ruin the serious moods of the others and to makes us calm as well. (By the progression of my story, you might think that I was modest in taking the UPCAT. Advise: read on.)

Then came the freaky math sub-test. First I thought that I can finish it since it was only 60 items and time alloted for that sub-test was 1 hour and 30 minutes. Then again, I was being ridiculously judgemental. Some parts are about math basics. What was really hard was the geometry part (I totally flunked Geomtery last year.) Another problem came, my stomach began to grumble. My mind was debating if I'll just continue answering to save time or to eat to satisfy my stomach. So I had to gamble. I ate while solving arithmetic and geometric progressions. I skipped 25% of that part because answers in my computations were not included in the choices. Oh crap! Again, I have to gamble. I threw darts in my answer sheet just to have an answer.

Last part was reading comprehension. It was fine. I took the answer-if-you-have-extra-time part too. While taking the test, all I think about is the freedom that I'll have after the UPCAT.

1 hour and 10 minutes was up and the UPCAT's finally done. That was my UPCAT experience.

Self-destruction

Sunday, July 26, 2009 @ 9:27 PM

Tonight, I drink.
Yes. I'm in grave need of escape.
Every felt like a blur.
As I hold my glass,
I reminisce to what have and should have been.
But that's the thing.
All those vivid memories are just things in the past.
Tears streaming down my face,
I bombarded myself with questions even I can't answer.
Why is he like this?
Am I fooled?
Was our love unreal?
But then he wouldn't care.
I hide and cry.
He continue on with his life.
Not knowing that there's a girl who's in deep pain;
Struggling within his numb heart.

My parents have been (and still are) fans of Michael Jackson. I grew up listening to their music but didn't really appreciate it the way my parents do. His music is great although before I didn't really understand why people cry when he sings and why he is entitled as the King of Pop.

About 2 weeks ago, a classmate of mine told me about his death. She was so berserk about this unfortunate news, while I, a music lover who didn't even appreciate him the way I should be, felt a little dismayed. My mom's idol is dead. He was gone too soon.

When I got home, I immediately asked my father about this. He said that he was really dead. As each day passes, I never fail to watch the news or read the newspaper that was about it. Only through this articles and reports did I really see the light of Mr. Jackson.

Declared as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson molded a new music trend. His famous moonwalk was perfected by his followers. People listen to his music and are inspired by them. Because of him, African-American felt a new hope, that is to able to go out and experience what really life is. They are now accepted in the music industry. True enough, Michael Jackson healed the world.

Now, I now see Michael Jackson in full clarity. I now understand why many people would kill just to watch him. He is a role model. Although, he had lived a life of controversies, his sense of service is what really shines through. Long live Michael Jackson. His music will always play in our hearts.

Damn Regret.

Saturday, July 4, 2009 @ 8:27 AM

(My own version of I Wish I Had Said)

I wish I had said
Everyday you're on my mind
Stuck in my heart
Saying you're one of a kind

I wish I had said
I appreciate you calling me
Asking me if I'm okay
Laughing with me daily

I wish I had said
I love you too
And meant it
But, alas, I'm in blue

But all I did was stare
To wait for your glare
To wish that you'll be mine
So all things will be fine

Now I'm in regret
Damn. It's hard to forget
All the things in the past
Are gone so, so fast

Miracles of the heart vs. Miracles of the mind

Monday, June 1, 2009 @ 11:23 PM

(Angels and Demons review.)
The Book
Breath-taking. I give it a 5-star. I loved it! Robert Langdon's back! Together with Vittoria Vetra, they've wandered all over the Vatican City to search for the missing anti-matter. They all thought that the mastermind in this crime was the group Illuminati. Their motive: to erase Christianity. But in the end, it turns out that Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca was behind this crime for he wanted the Christian world to not depend on technology.
The Movie
I admit. I have high expectations for the movie. But it disappointed me. First, they have erased some important details (like the one wherein the chief cardinal was telling Carlo that he's the Pope's son). Surprisingly, the Pope's still chaste because he and his girlfriend used some artificial processes for them to have a baby. Second, they changed some of the characters' name. The camerlengo's name became Patrick while Leonardo Vetra (Vittoria's father) was named Salvino. Third, they didn't include some of my favorite characters in the book. Namely, Maximillian Kohler, Gunter Glick and Chinita. :(
Review
No wonder Dan Brown's a well-known writer. He tells stories that makes our heart skip a beat. Not only that, this specific story of his makes me think if the group Illumanati really existed. Although the book laid some logical arguments against the Church, it doesn't made my faith weaker. Henceforth, I came to realize that we don't need science to explain what cannot be explained.

What I've learned in this book is that we must not be so fed up by the booming technology around us. We must take time to ponder on things for our faith to be strengthen.

Bold it.

Rock & Roll & Gayness

Just finished watching American Idol. After tonight's show I said to myself that I HAVE to post something about it.

So the show started with Ryan Seacrest ranting about the "unexpected occurrence" before their run through. Reportedly, the American Idol thing (I don't really know what it's called) was shattered. That incident implies that the top 4 didn't have the chance to practice on-stage before the show because they have to clean the area. But as the audience say, "The show must go on."

First up was Adam. Oh boy. Forgive me on commenting on this one first but WHAT'S UP WITH HIS CHEST-REVEALING SHIRT?! Seriously, it scared me. He looks like a serial killer! Tss. Performance-wise, he was excellent. Well, duh, he IS Adam Lambert. That's expected, however, for me he's still not deserving. He can always come back to musical. I've some say that he's way better in theater than in Idol. Maybe he is really meant for theater!

Second was Allison. She was great, actually. I expected her to be boring like she was in the past weeks. Surprise. Surprise.

Third was the Kris-Danny duet. I admit, there were some parts wherein Kris sounded pitchy. We all know that Rock and Roll is not his thing. On the contrary, I was shocked to see Danny doing well in their performance. All together, they sounded great.

Next was Kris version of Come Together by the Beatles. Thank God he opted for classic rock. That's the best option for him. Imagine Kris performing a Sex Pistol song. Man. That would be a wreck! His performance was GREAT! I mean, come on, we're looking at a guy whose not capable in rock and roll music. Although some seemed satisfied with his performance, I have this feeling that he'll be in the bottom two tomorrow. But I pray that America will vote for him.

Danny's solo was the fifth performance. The first part was mediocre. The last part was weird! It's like he imitated Adam. Oh boy. It was a wreck. Believe me. Despite this, I think that he'll be safe in tomorrow's results. Although tonight was a disaster, we cannot deny his talent and what his voice can do. Man. He has guts!

Last was the Adam-Allison duet. Again, I would like to comment on Adam's wardrobe. WHAT'S UP WITH THE GRAY AND BLACK STRIPE PANTS?! Lol. The usage of that pants is for costumes for plays like Romeo and Juliet or Merchant of Venice. Haha. As expected, it was spectacular. The two were known as the "rocker dudes". Surprisingly though, I anticipated that Adam will overpower Allison but hey, the two complimented each other. I agreed with the judges. The Adam-Allison duet was definitely a winner.

So who will the cast off be? Can't wait. It better be not Kris!

Love moderately.

About 2 weeks ago, I was on the phone with my best friend, Jay. While on the phone, I'm answering some survey on-line and Jay's reading some love quotes. Then after that phone call I stumbled on this site. It's a blog from a very sentimental and senseless girl. She filled her blog with love quotes that are both heartwarming and depressing. That on-line journal was a big reality check for me. I came across this quotes from the said site..

"Love is like alcohol. When you have too much, you began to act stupid. Love moderately."

"Isn't it wonderful when that special someone is a part of your daily routine? But the sad thing is, you can't blame him when he suddenly disappears because he was never really yours."

"He isn't my boyfriend but I love the way he hugs me, the way we laugh and the way we relate to each other. Well, I guess I fell in love with our friendship."

The words struck me. Especially the first one. I remember my mom giving me advices about love. She told me never to love too much especially now I'm too young. I believed her. Well, I guess I will meet that special someone without even looking for him. Maybe soon or later.

My mom also knows about him. She likes him (which is a relief. Kidding.) But really, it's nice to talk to my mom about the whole concept of love. She, herself, is experienced on that matter. She know I "like" him. Take note: like. It's not just a simple crush. (Ok. He went on-line. :|) "It might be him but keep in mind that there's a possibility that it might not be him." She always says that.

Oh, love. What a deep word. Well, I guess I just have to wait for the "one". My mom may be right. It might be him but it might also be someone else.
